Wallpaper we are Loving!

If you have been an avid At Home Co. follower then you already know how much we LOVE wallpaper! Dare we say it is one of our favourite design elements? It is like the jewelry of a room. If you find yourself redesigning a room, we highly suggest you consider a pop of wallpaper to complete the space.

So, let’s talk about 4 ways you can incorporate wallpaper into a room!

  1. Wallpaper all the walls! A big trend in 2023 that we are seeing continued into 2024 is the revival of fully wallpapered rooms! Instead of paint we are seeing many designers choosing wallpaper as their main focal point. Wallpaper gives you the ability to add warms, colour and pattern to the space. You can choose subtle, neutral colours and patterns or fully lean in and pick something that packs a punch.

  2. Let us scream it from the rooftops… Wallpaper your ceiling!!! Wallpapering your ceiling is the most fun and visually interesting way to add colour and pattern to your space! This choice draws the eye up, makes the room feel larger and allows you to play with colour and pattern without it being all encompassing. A neutral wall and a wallpapered ceiling is the way to go. Draw from the wallpaper on the ceiling for the accent colours you use for textiles and furniture.

  3. Add it to the back of a built-in. Adding or repainting a built-in this year? Consider adding wallpaper to the back wall/panel of the built-in to add a fun and playful accent to the space. This is a subtle way to add colour to a room. Whether it is a built-in pantry in your kitchen or a bookshelf wallpaper adds a fun flare to the built-in.

  4. Wallpaper accent wall. This is probably the option you think of first when you consider wallpapering. In certain rooms, for certain designs we support this. Take a kiddos room that will be redone a lot as they age for instance, just wallpapering 1-wall is perfect here because A) you’re not spending a ton on something they will want to redo and B) it’s easy peasy to just remove one wall of wallpaper. However, if you're wallpapering a room that you are going to live with for a while, we encourage you to try one of the first two suggestions!
