How to Improve your Home’s Curb Appeal before Selling!

Spring and Summer can be great times to sell your home,

and what better way to greet potential buyers than some beautiful curb appeal.

The exterior of your home is the first thing they see when they pull up to your property, so it's important to make a good first impression. Here are some tips to make the most of it:

  1. Freshen up the front door: a fresh coat of paint or if you’re feeling ambitious (or if paint alone will not save it) consider replacing it with a new, stylish door that adds a modern touch. A benefit to working with me - I can guide you on a colour or door selection to appeal to the most amount of buyers possible.

  2. Add some greenery: Plants and flowers can add color and charm to your home's exterior. Consider adding some potted plants, hanging baskets, or a window box to your front porch or yard. I personally love anything white a green!

  3. Clean up the landscaping: Overgrown bushes and trees, weeds, and dead plants can make your home look unkempt. Spend some time cleaning up the landscaping and trimming back overgrown trees and bushes.

  4. Repair any damage that the buyer would have to address immediately: I am not going to tell you to redo the parging or entire driveway, but if a buyer is going to feel like their falling walking on your porch, action needs to be taken.

  5. Upgrade your lighting: Modern outdoor lighting can make your home look inviting and add to its overall appeal. At the very least, upgrade your porch lights and then consider adding some landscape lighting to highlight your home's best features. The latter I would more-so suggest in the Winter, as many showings will happen in the dark.

By following these tips, you can improve your home's curb appeal and make it more attractive to potential buyers. And if you're not planning on selling this spring or summer but instead later in the year, it's still a good idea to start now by improving your curb appeal and getting your photos taken now. This will give you a head start and ensure that you’re home - and it’s marketing - looks its best when it's time to sell. And if you need any help with the process, don't hesitate to call me – I'm always here to help!
